Portable Generator
Service & Repair

Don't have a whole-home standby unit yet? No problem. Nex Phase provides maintenance, repair, and rentals for portable generators of all makes and models across North and South Carolina.

What We Do

Full-Service Portable Generator Care

Tune-Up & Preventive Maintenance

Oil changes, spark plug replacement, air filter service, and fuel stabilizer treatment — everything your portable unit needs to start reliably when you need it most.

Carburetor & Fuel System Repair

Clogged carburetors and stale fuel are the #1 cause of portable generator failure. We clean, rebuild, or replace fuel system components to restore full performance.

AVR & Electrical Diagnostics

Voltage fluctuations, dead outlets, or no output? Our technicians diagnose and repair AVR failures, capacitor issues, and wiring faults on all brands.

Load Testing & Output Verification

We test your generator under load to verify it produces rated wattage and stable voltage — so you know it will actually power your home during an outage.

Starter & Recoil Repair

Hard starts, broken pull cords, or electric starter failures — we repair or replace starting systems so your unit fires up on the first pull.

Pre-Season Readiness Check

Before hurricane season hits, bring your portable unit in for a full inspection. We check fuel, oil, battery (if equipped), outlets, and run a load test.

What Is a Portable Generator?
Portable generators are fuel-powered units that provide temporary electricity during outages. They run on gasoline, propane, or dual-fuel and must be manually started and positioned outdoors. Common sizes range from 3,500W to 17,500W.
Portable vs. Standby
Unlike standby generators, portable units don't turn on automatically and require extension cords or a transfer switch. They're a cost-effective backup option but need regular maintenance to be ready when you need them.
How Often Should It Be Serviced?
Portable generators should be serviced at least once a year — ideally before storm season. Regular tune-ups prevent hard starts, fuel issues, and output problems that show up at the worst possible time.
Brands We Work On
Generac, Honda, Champion, Briggs & Stratton, Westinghouse, DuroMax, Predator, Craftsman, DeWalt, and most other residential and contractor-grade portable generator brands.
